The Palace of Marianne Orange-Nassau in Kamieniec Ząbkowicki is currently implementing the project Revitalization of the romantic palace and park complex by restoring selected fragments of the historic palace and park in Kamieniec Ząbkowicki – stage I

The project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund under the Regional Operational Programme for the Lower Silesian Voivodeship for 2014-2020. The total value of the project is PLN 2,414194.95, the European Funds’ subsidy is PLN 1,624022.23.

The aim of the project is to increase the tourist potential of the palace and park complex of Marianne Orange-Nassau and its assets through the creation of infrastructural conditions enabling the creation of a coherent comprehensive offer, which will be an interesting form of leisure activities for residents of the region and tourists.

The project will involve repair and reconstruction works of selected fragments of the historic Palace: reconstruction of the external window and door woodwork of the dining room up to the ground floor and the external window woodwork of the palace chapel in the palace-park complex.

This will improve the condition of the historic substance of the Palace of Marianne Orange-Nassau, in particular such important parts as the dining hall and the chapel. The tasks resulting from the project will also contribute to raising the historical value of the region, and thus the recognition of the palace and park complex of Marianne Orange-Nassau in the whole country will increase. Awareness of the significance and value of the palace-park complex will also increase among the local and regional community, and knowledge of the historic complex will be popularised.

The idea of the project results from the desire of the Kamieniec Ząbkowicki municipal authorities to restore the Palace of Marianne Orange-Nassau to its former glory and to give it a socio-cultural function. The project is a stage in a wider plan of revitalisation of the palace and park complex in Kamieniec Ząbkowicki. The comprehensive development plan assumes a comprehensive revitalisation to meet social needs, including improved access to culture and education through easier contact with history and a cultural heritage site of supra-regional significance. The genesis of the project therefore stems from a broader programme of revitalisation of the Municipality’s historic buildings and the creation of a coherent and comprehensive cultural offer not only of the Municipality, but also of the region.

As a result of the project it will be possible to make the Palace of Marianne Orange-Nassau more accessible and to adapt it to the needs of visitors, as well as to create a more extensive cultural and educational programme, taking into account the importance of the monument. The renovation and reconstruction of the external window and door woodwork of the dining room up to and including the ground floor, as well as the external window woodwork of the palace chapel will lead to the protection of the Palace against further degradation, conservation and effective use of cultural heritage of great importance for the region and the country. All the activities within the project aim at increasing the tourist and cultural attractiveness of Kamieniec Ząbkowicki and preserving its cultural heritage. The implementation of the project, in addition to the restoration of selected fragments of the palace and park complex, is also expected to contribute to an increase in the expected number of visits to the supported cultural and natural heritage sites and an increase in the number of people employed in servicing the Palace. An additional economic effect will be an increase in the hotel and catering (private) base, and thus an increase in employment of the local community, as the palace-park complex plays an important role for the local community and the region.

Carrying out repair works and restoration of woodwork elements in the historic Palace of Marianne Orange-Nassau will contribute to the protection of parts of the heritage site against weather conditions and enable their access and comfortable visiting. The works carried out under the project will make it possible, together with the scope of the works carried out earlier and planned, to adapt the rooms for the needs of the cultural and educational offer addressed both to the inhabitants of the region and to tourists who will gain wider access to the cultural heritage resources of supra-regional significance.
